10/12 Richmond Park roller ski tour with mince pies & mulled wine.
Every year in December LRNSC roller skiers meet at Richmond Park for a torchlight tour of the park. It is a relaxed and informal event which provides a good opportunity to meet other members. The roads close to traffic at dusk and so at 4.30pm we meet outside Sheen Gate for a circular tour of the park, a distance of about 7.5 miles.
With no traffic to worry about and plenty of space we take a leisurely pace. We stop regularly to regroup with a break halfway to enjoy mince pies and gluwein at one of the park's viewpoints.
The tour is usually over by about 6.30pm. Afterwards there is the option of going to a local Indian restaurant for a meal - please email Gerard Evans in advance to reserve your place.
We will provide the mince pies and the gluhwein. You should wear bicycle lights or headtorches, and high visibility clothing if you have it. Bring some water to drink.
This tour is open to members of LRNSC and other SSE affiliated clubs. It is not recommended for beginners, you should be able to rollerski at an easy pace for an hour with breaks. Cyclists are also welcome on the tour.
Please get in touch well in advance if you would like to hire equipment (skis, poles, boots, helmets), or have any queries please contact us or contact Gerard Evans [contact details on inside cover of newsletter].
