John’s skiing career began in the Army and ultimately saw him awarded the OBE for Service to Skiing in 1984, and at 78 he continues to enjoy skiing every winter. He represented GB in the Cortina, Squaw Valley and Innsbruck Olympic Winter Games competing in both cross country and biathlon races. He went on to become Biathlon Course Setter and Senior Technical Director for the Olympic Games in Sapporo, Innsbruck, Lake Placid and Sarajevo. John also competed in the World Biathlon Championships from 1958 to 1964, became Senior Technical Director at this event and chaired the World Biathlon Technical Council from 1976 to 1980.
This talk will follow the Club’s roller ski course and practice session starting at approximately 1500 in the clubhouse.
