Club paddle boarding event - Sunday 5 August

Experience the world’s fastest growing water sport here in London - join us for this private stand-up paddle boarding [SUP] session at Paddington Basin where we've teamed up with SUP experts Active 360.

This session for LRNSC members will open with a safety briefing and SUP lesson before we paddle off on a guided SUP tour of Paddington Basin, Little Venice and the Grand Union Canal.

Paddleboarding is a low impact exercise that combines balance, strength, and endurance when you paddle or just balance on your board. It’s not only an excellent core workout but also engages your toes, legs, back, shoulders, arms and neck which all work together.  So pretty good for cross country skiers!

The location is close to Paddington station near the junction of the Regent's and Grand Union Canals, the basin itself is the terminus of the Paddington branch of the Grand Junction Canal.

What's provided?

SUP tuition and equipment including boards, paddles and buoyancy aids.

What to wear

No specialist clothing is required. Active wear such as shorts, t-shirt or light layers are fine in warm weather. No cotton/jean/denim as this stays cold when wet. If it is chilly, add a fleece and waterproofs. Bring an extra pair of sandals or trainers you don’t mind getting wet to paddle in. Wetsuits are available on request.

Meet at 1245 to collect equipment so we can head for the water at 1300 [we won't wait for latecomers!].  The session lasts 2 hours.
