Skiing enthusiasts sought by charity
Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 21:01 National charity Vitalise is inviting skiing enthusiasts to rise to a new challenge and accompany groups of visually impaired people on skiing holidays this winter.
Vitalise is offering sighted guiding opportunities to keen skiers who want to have a holiday with a real difference and share their passion for the sport with visually impaired people. There are four upcoming destinations in 2010:
• Cross Country Skiing in Switzerland (Kandersteg), 23 - 30 January
• Downhill Skiing in Austria (Niederau), 27 February - 6 March
• Austrian Winter Wonderland (Niederau), 27 February - 6 March
• Cross Country Skiing in Norway (Geilo), 14 - 21 March
In recognition of the contribution they make, all sighted skiers receive their holiday at a subsidised rate.
Experienced and confident skiers are required, since they need to be able to direct visually impaired skiers while also skiing themselves. Training and support is provided by Vitalise.
For more information about becoming a sighted guide, call Vitalise Holidays on 0845 330 0149, email viholidays@vitalise.org.uk, or visit www.vitalise.org.uk/holidays to view or download a copy of the brochure.
