Tim WilksCongratulations to Tim Wilks, who in February completed the Koenig Ludwig Lauf in Oberammergau, Germany, to become LRNSC’s 23rd Worldlopet Master.

For many club skiers, completing ten Worldloppet races, which entails visiting ten different countries to take part in and finish their nominated marathon races, is the fulfilment of a dream. It requires considerable dedication and perseverance – not to mention technical and physical abilities - to achieve that goal.

At the end of February 2009 the Club’s record of success in this endeavour bears comparison with many other clubs in better-known cross-country skiing nations. Several Club skiers have completed the series more than once and two members have completed all fifteen of the races to earn the title of ‘Global Worldloppet Skier’.

A number of other LRNSC skiers are hot on the trail of their Worldloppet Masters titles and we look forward to reaching a total of 30 within the next two years.
