Level 2 - learn the fundamentals of classic & skate roller skiing - for novices/improvers

If you've attended a level 1 course or cross country skied on snow for a couple of weeks and want to improve your skiing, this is the course for you.  You'll develop your balance, coordination and skills so can ski with less effort and tackle gentle hills confidently.

The focus wil be on developing the full range of classic skiing techniques and progressively introducing skating.  Your aim will be SSE 2 star proficiency and if you register for Snowsport England Proficiency Awards [cost: £5.00] you can also be assessed for this scheme at the end of the course.

It is possible to book single sessions but if this after the course has started please contact us to check if/how we can fit you in.

After the course we recommend you attend our training and practice sessions, enter some roller ski races and check out Snowsport England's skills development courses.

Equipment & clothing

Unless you opt for 'tuition only' equipment [roller skis, boots, poles, protective knee and elbow pads etc] is included in the course cost.

If you have your own cycle helmet please bring that to wear as well as gloves to protect your hands.

If you're new to roller skiing, we recommend you use the Club equipment first then consider buying your own kit once you're committed and want to practice more.

Dress in breathable sports/leisure clothing - light layers are best so you can adjust if you get too warm.  Don't wear your best gear in case you fall.  Gloves are essential - please bring your own.

All our courses take place at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit in west London which provides an ideal mix of flat, gentle and steeper hills, all with smooth tarmac surfaces.

It has a club house with facilities to make tea and coffee, and where you can change/leave clothes during sessions.
