Worldloppet/Euroloppet trip to

Koenig Ludwig Lauf & Int.Tiroler Koase Lauf

4 -15 February 2010

The cross country ski-ing challenges - Worldloppet and Europloppet

Konig Ludwig Lauf The Koenig Ludwig Lauf, Oberammergau (GER) and the Int Tiroler Koasalauf, St Johann in Tirol (AUT) are the Club’s cross country ski racing challenges this year, making a Worldloppet and Euroloppet challenge.

Trip dates and length

The trip will run from Thursday 4 February to 15 February and participants will have the options of taking part in either the Koenig Ludwig Lauf, the Koasalauf or in both races.

The trip will therefore be a minimum of 4 days to a maximum of 12 days, according to individual choice.  The Konig Ludwig Lauf is easily undertaken as a long weekend from London or you can build a full holiday around both races.

The Koenig Ludwig Lauf – Germany’s Worldloppet race

This is an ideal race for first-time racers, although equally presenting a stiff challenge to the more experienced skier.  Races on Saturday are over 23 and 50 kms in Free Technique, while the same distances are run on the Sunday in Classical Technique.  Both 50 km races count for gold stamps in the Worldloppet passport, whilst the shorter races count towards the silver medal.

International Koasalauf – a Euroloppet challenge

This is Austria’s biggest mass start event and part of the Euroloppet series. Races are over 20 and 30 km in Classical Technique and over 20, 30 and 50 km in Free Technique.

For 2010 Koasalauf is also the first half of the new European Marathon Championship, which is composed of two races, the first in Free Technique and the second, Skadi Loppet in Bodenmais (GER) on 21 March, in Classical Technique.
